MORE INFORMATION
“Operation Arrive Safe” brings together military, federal, state, and local judges who may preside over impaired‑driving cases involving servicemembers, as well as military commanders involved in non‑judicial adjudications, to exchange knowledge and deepen their understanding of the unique challenges presented by military defendants. This 1½‑day judicial‑education program builds a shared foundation in military structure, culture, and terminology and the fundamentals of impaired driving; identifies jurisdictional issues across state, federal, and military systems; and raises awareness of the evidentiary and behavioral‑health issues and the administrative consequences that arise in these cases. Participants will strengthen their ability to evaluate toxicology and scientific evidence, apply evidence-based sentencing practices, examine cross-agency reporting of driver information, and recognize the factors that contribute to elevated risk among military populations. The program also highlights the resources available for screening, assessment, treatment, and intervention to support fair and consistent decision-making and reduce impaired driving incidents and recidivism among servicemembers.
