ABOUT THIS EVENT

The Standing Committee on Law and National Security is honored to host a special luncheon fireside chat with Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), the senior Senator from Texas and a senior member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, for a candid conversation on the most pressing national security challenges of our time. Senator Cornyn brings a rare vantage point—shaped by decades on the Intelligence, Judiciary, and Foreign Relations Committees—to a discussion ranging across the strategic contest with a rising China, the shifting contours of a complex and volatile geopolitical landscape, and the double-edged promise of artificial intelligence for national defense and intelligence operations. He will also address the urgent imperative of countering asymmetric and sub-threshold threats from Iran, North Korea, China, and Russia, including cyber intrusions and efforts to interfere in American elections. The conversation, moderated by Carter Burwell, Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton,  will be a substantive, unscripted exchange with one of the Senate's most consequential voices on intelligence policy—an essential conversation for anyone following the full spectrum of threats facing the nation today.
